Qualities of Shade Sails
Qualities of great Long lasting Shade Sails
One of the key features of a shade sail. All SBS sails are sewn with Tenara thread which is the best quality thread in the industry.
Typically sail thread deteriorates after 8-10 years and sails need a restitch.
Tenara thread has a life expectancy of 15 years. You will not have to resew your sail within this 15 years
- Every corner of each sail has two layers of cloth which provides support in the highest load areas of a sail. All sails are double stitched around all edges and on seams. “D” rings on each corner of the sail are sewn into the sail with by high grade 50mm seatbelt webbing.
All fabric is commercial shade cloth manufactured with UV inhibitors. Cloth is manufactured in factories specialising in shade cloth production and subject to testing to Australian standards. Tests are available for customers to view. In total there are 40 colours to choose from.
Sails are computer designed
making allowance for post heights, fabric stretch and sail tensioning distance.
316 stainless steel
All fittings on sails are 316 marine grade stainless steel. This includes shackles, turnbuckles, wire, eyenuts and eyebolts

Wall fixings -
All our wall fittings are 316 stainless steel and chemi-anchored into a brick wall using a special chemical solution. All cavities are cleaned with a high-pressure compressor to prevent fixings from working loose
Posts are made from galvanised steel and powder coated in a colour of your choice. Each post has a cap and stainless steel eye nut. Depths and width of each post footing are based on engineering specifications relevant to sail size.
